Sorry to hear about the malaria bud. If it makes you feel any better, I managed to get myself a tick bite here in Germany. It remains to be seen whether or not I picked up lyme disease or a nasty thing called FSME from it. Don't know why that would make you feel better... but I tried.

Sounds like you're enjoying a great experience over there, keep it up. Keep up the blog too.

And maybe lay low for a while...
